Hi Cringers,
“Change is the only constant,” as the saying goes, and lately I’ve been feeling this X100.
I’ve never lived through a period like this where everything is shifting at once politically, technologically, and societally.
The world feels chaotic, to say the least. With all the information coming at us, it can be challenging to know what’s what.
It's not only our surroundings that are changing, but us as individuals, emotionally, mentally, and physiologically.
We live in a constant state of flux. Our cells are constantly regenerating.
The more I write, the more I see shifts in myself month-to-month and even day-to-day, in my tone, voice, and perspective.
This is true for everyone. Just look at your journal entry from last year or better yet, ten years ago and you'll see what I mean.
This fluxing quality of self, business, and life can make it difficult to create consistency in how we show up, which is why the idea of a "personal brand" can feel so limiting to some.
However, even if you're someone who's always evolving, there are likely to be some aspects that stay relatively stable, such as where you come from, what you believe in, and what you value.
These are the inner anchors in our lives, the stable aspects we can trust.
These more stable aspects are what I focus on when working with clients who feel overwhelmed by options, are at a turning point in their lives or careers, or aren't ready or willing to commit to one message, theme, or look.
That's why so much of branding is really about developing clarity.
Reflection questions:
What are those "anchors" in your life and work?
What keeps you grounded and focused during times of change?
How are you building your life and business around what's important to you?
