Hi Cringers,
Most of us struggle to find clarity at one point or another.
When I was younger, I naively thought I’d reach some point, some age, someplace, or some time where it would all click, like a giant winning Tetris cube.
I’d find some exact balance where I’d be perfectly content in all aspects of life: relationships, work, creativity, health, and adventure.
As we all know, life doesn’t work like that. It seems at least one level is always out of wack, and just when you hit one Whac-A-Mole down another one pops up. C’es la vie?
I notice this same search for perfection among solopreneurs. We are all looking for that perfect line or perfect business plan that will encompass the entirety of our experiences, skillset, audience, and services.
This doesn’t just apply to solopreneurs, I’ve noticed this quest for perfection among executives and founders throughout my years working for small to midsize companies.
It seems we’re all looking for answers and concreteness in an ever-shifting and unpredictable world.
On top of that, so much of marketing, language, and human behavior is hard to pin down, hard to quantify, analyze, and distill into one word or another.
Analytics can help, but they don’t tell you everything. There comes a certain point where you have to trust yourself to make a decision.
Use the information you have, do your research, and move forward as much as you can day by day.
How to Move Forward Without Perfect Clarity:
One way to move forward when you’re feeling overwhelmed is to break down any complexity into small, manageable steps.
Instead of focusing on the service and audience you want to target for life, a year, or even six months, think about the experience, skill set, and resources you can draw upon and act on now and for the next month or three.
Most things aren’t permanent. You can typically adjust, change course, and adapt as needed.
You’ll gain more clarity about whatever it is you’re working on by jumping in, talking with clients, and learning from others doing similar work.
Clarity is rarely a set state. It’s often more of an ongoing process, something you catch in glimpses, and have to work at every day.

"Sometimes you just need someone to ask you smart questions that unlock insights. Sometimes you need permission to use what you’ve already made—and be who you already are. Sometimes you need a strategic thinker to steer you in the right direction. Isabel is all of that and more. Hire her. Immediately. As of this writing, she’s worth at least 10 times her fee. GET IN WHILE YOU STILL CAN.”

Smart thinking. Good writing. I’ve become a little familiar with you on LinkedIn. It’s good to see how that plays out in long form writing
Go as far as you can see and then you’ll see further.
As you suggest, it’s an iterative path. Perfect won’t come so do the best with what’s in front of you and then reassess.
